My interest in complementary therapies started at a very young age. I spent most of my early years with my grandmother who had a deep knowledge of traditional Xhosa tribe remedies that have been used for centuries.
She would regularly take me with her to gather specific plants and herbs needed to make oils, lotions and infusions using them to help women in childbirth, massage babies and infants and soothe mothers suffering trauma during and after delivery.
This I later realised opened up the idea that where ailments and treatments are concerned, the possibilities are immense.
At six months old, my baby developed severe eczema along with a number of allergies. She was prescribed creams and I was given a list of foods to avoid: my fear was that food restrictions could affect my child’s development and growth. I felt isolated, lost and exhausted.
Coping with these acute stresses meant I made poor food choices. Naturally these had a profoundly negative impact on my own health ultimately leading to my needing surgery.
I began giving Energy Healing to soothe my child’s skin flare-ups and wheezing, at the same time introducing dietary modifications taking into account various food restrictions, intolerances and allergies. This proved difficult as I had to pay close attention to ensure all the correct nutrients were included. I also adjusted my own nutrition to aid recovery from surgery and address my hormonal imbalances.
I can now honestly say that by implementing these changes my child’s eczema has completely disappeared and I have returned to a robust state of health.
